Sittin’ in Fort Stockton, TX
17 March 2010Into every life a little rain must fall. For full time RVers this usually manifests itself as mechanical difficulties.
Deep in the Heart of Texas (3/13/10)
13 March 2010We’re making progress. Left El Paso about 8 AM this morning. On arriving at Van Horn (beep-beep) we found that we had entered the central time zone. We advanced our watches an hour, from 11:30 to 12:30. Since we had eaten a large breakfast at Flying J, we weren’t yet hungry, so we continued on [...]
Another Saturday Night…
6 March 2010Had a lovely Shabbat. Started Friday night with candles, wine, challah and brisket. Got the brisket just right by cooking at 200F for about five hours. Did it with carrots and potatoes in the roasting pan. Also gefilte fish. We use the frozen loaf kind. I bought four of them, took a clean hacksaw blade, [...]
Willcox, AZ to Deming, NM (3/3/10)
4 March 2010So… We spent a very quiet day in Willcox, and this morning, we “moved house” as the English say, down the road about 150 miles to Deming. This town is pronounced with a short E, so it sounds like lemming. On our way hither, we passed through Lordsburg, where I photographed the Masonic Lodge and [...]
Willcox, AZ (3/1/2010)
1 March 2010Not much to report. We did a day of driving, skipped a bunch of nice tourist possibilities, and are camped at the Elks Lodge in Willcox, AZ, where we will stay two nights. I have a day of work to do tomorrow, and we’d like to get some laundry done.
It was a frustrating day driving, [...]
Arizona, take off your rainbow shades (2/24/2010)
24 February 2010Well, we made Arizona today. After a home-cooked breakfast in the trailer, we left Rialto at about 8:30 AM.
We traveled east through San Bernadino all the way to Indio, where we stopped for fuel, a grocery store run, and then lunch at Panda Express — Roseann’s favorite. Then back on the road bound for Quartzsite, [...]
Time for a personal update
16 February 2010As most of the legions of my readers know, we’ve been docked in Van Nuys, California for the past two years, while I worked at Geni, Inc.
The job at Geni ended in mid January, so some choices needed to be made. One choice was to look for a job in the LA area close enough [...]
Cradlepoint MBR900 Router
5 February 2010My Cradlepoint MBR900 router showed up today. It seems like a typical wifi router, with one extra feature. If you plug in your USB cellular data device, it’ll use it for a WAN source, and share it out to all connected users. (I figure that wifi security is a good thing in this mode :)
The [...]
A link… to me!
25 January 2010I got linked to. I recently made some comments on another blog about changes in the LADOT CitiRide program, and when they were picked up by The Bus Bench, I found that Browne had linked my name with my blog.
Unfortunately, I never blogged about this, just commented elsewhere, so if you’re coming over here [...]
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum
11 January 2010We’ve lived in the San Fernando Valley for 18 months now, and we recently had our attention called to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum.
I’ve never been a fan of President Reagan. His politics and priorities didn’t line up with mine very well. The idea of going to his museum didn’t really resonate with [...]
