Morgan Hill, CA
Since leaving Monterey, we’ve been in Morgan Hill. We’re clearing out our apartment, preparatory to going full time in the trailer. So far, I’ve packed and donated eight boxes of books and moved a bunch of stuff to the trailer. I have two restaurant recommendations to post: Cafe San Jose, 1583 Meridian Avenue, San Jose, [...]
R V having fun yet?
Sorry to have missed a week of travel. I thought I had posted from our previous stop, but I see I did not. I have a few mailing lists that receive postings as we travel, and sometimes I forget what we post where. The weekend in Santa Barbara was very good, if soggy. We celebrated [...]
We are still above water!
On Thursday night, after Encounters, we went back to our trailer at the Westchester Elks Lodge, expecting it to start raining. We were surprised when it didn’t. Encounters is an interesting experience. It is supposed to feel like you are dining in a flying saucer, floating above LAX. In fact, the food and service were [...]
On to LA
We drove up to Los Angeles today, and parked our trailer at the Westchester Elks Lodge in Playa del Rey. No hookups, but convenient to where we needed to be. We drove into the Pico/Robertson area again, and picked up my new Tefillin. I plan a post on what we found inside the old tefillin [...]
This week
Shabbos services at Chabad of Santa Clarita Valley was very nice. We had a nice minyan, good chulent, and good people. Highly recommended. On Sunday we moved down to Thousand Trails Pio Pico, about 15 miles east of Chula Vista. For New Years Eve, we saw the movie “Enchanted,” which we enjoyed very much. It’s [...]
Technical note
I’m told that there is a problem with displaying some of the photos on this blog. I have not yet figured out why. I’ll work on it.
Back on the road again
We’re back on the road, and so far, things are holding up mechanically. Readers of this blog will recall the many maintenance headaches we had last summer. In fact, when I stated that I had done some routine maintenance, one of my friends misunderstood, and thought that I had once again been stranded. Not so. [...]
Old Family Photo
This photo is of me, at 2-1/2, with my cousin Roy. Roy must be the oldest friend I have. Also show, in order, are Roy’s father, my mother, and Roy’s mother. The photo was processed in January, 1958.
My trip to Phoenix (another Chanukah Posting)
I went to Phoenix, Arizona to participate in a 2008 planning meeting for my company. I flew Southwest from and back to San Jose. In this case, the air travel was blessedly uneventful and comfortable. I think Southwest is getting it right. Since this was the last two nights of Chanukah, I brought my menorah [...]
Chanukah Menorah (Chanukiah)
My grandmother gave me this Chanukiah when I moved to California. Before she gave it to me, it sat in her china closet for longer than I was alive. She always told me it was for me, and she kept her word. I don’t like to let religious items sit without use, so we lit [...]
