Made It Home
14 September 2007Well, we made it home, after a four day and 800 mile marathon. I suppose we could have done it in three days, but we don’t have the endurance on the road. We started early, then we ended early. I was also able to get some work done on those days.
Our stops were about as I had predicted: Salem, OR, Grants Pass, OR and Red Bluff, CA.
We spent 51 nights on the road. One in a motel. Without that model, we spent an average of $11/night on campsite accommodations.
We had one interesting day, we hit two state capitals in the same day. Olympia, WA and Salem, OR. We saw the Washington Capitol Dome from the freeway, and we saw the Oregon Capitol building while out for dinner.
In neither case, were we able to explore these cities as tourists. Next time.
The learning on this trip was great. We learned that we can live on the road and deal with most of the issues of life. We loved the experience. We’re now dealing with a bit of angst related to leaving our comfort zone behind.
