This Week in Chehalis
16 August 2007The week in Chehalis was about as enjoyable, yet quiet, as expected. This is the prototypical Thousand Trails, being the first one created, back in 1972.
Some of the highlights included a campfire on Wednesday night and a really cool ride up the back roads to Centralia, then along other back roads down to the south end of Chehalis, then back.
On Thursday, we took the trailer down to Uhlmann’s RV (as planned) for brake work. We got the full treatment, to the tune of $745.00, but boy, do those brakes work well. Brakes at Uhlmann: $745. Stopping at the bottom of a long hill: Priceless.
While they were working on the rig, we drove up to Wolf Haven to see Roseann’s buddies. We’ve been members over there for several years, since Roseann really likes wolves. We took the tour, and saw about six grey-wolf pairs, as well as a red-wolf pair.
After picking up the trailer on Thursday evening, we went off to Sowerby’s British restaurant where we were entertained by a trio playing Irish music. The “Poor Sisters” had a guitar, a fiddle and a set of bellows-driven Irish pipes. Audra Poor, the pipe player also played a large array of flutes and whistles. They were great! They were also joined by a visiting musician on a saw (yes a saw, played with a bow) and a set of spoons. We really enjoyed them. Come to Sowerby’s on Thursday nights.
