The Van Nuys Airport Public Observation Area

6 September 2008

Today I took the bicycle on a short ride to the Van Nuys Public Observation area. You can see it on MapMyRide.com.  The airport has this little known spot where you can watch the runway (at the north end.) It was recommended in another blog, belonging to the parent of a young flight student.

If the planes are landing to the south, you get to see most them touch down. Sometimes you get to watch them float along the runway, which reminds of of how I used to attempt to land airplanes.  Photos of the planes are very difficult due to the chain link fence. I didn’t take any.

I took a few photos of the Observation area.

The ride was nice, it was pretty warm out there.
